Speedgrade CS6 - First look

When Adobe bought Speedgrade from Iridas I got very interested what they where going to do with it. Now that CS6 is released I have taken a look at the new Adobe Speedgrade CS6.
One thing Iridas Speedgrade wasn't known for was an easy to understand GUI, so I was hoping that Adobe would improve this, but after starting Speedgrade CS 6 I felt as lost as I used to do with the original Speedgrade.
When I press <F1> for help I am sent to a website with a few links to videos and tutorials, but no real manual. There is a Keyboard shortcuts document which gives me some hints how to use the program, but how Adobe can release a program with such a specific GUI without a manual is quite a surprise. I watched a few videos and read a few documents and then I decided to load a clip and do some grading.

Rent your grading software - Adobe Speedgrade CS6

One of the new possibilities Adobe is launching is Creative Cloud, a subscription based service that lets you rent your software for a monthly fee. Pricing for Creative Cloud membership for individuals is US$49.99 per month based on annual membership and US$74.99 per month for month-to-month membership for the whole CS6 package.
But you can also subscribe to just one product, like Speedgrade CS6 and that for US $19.99 per month instead of spending US $999 for the software. I don't know how Adobe is thinking, but renting seems a lot cheaper then buying and the fact that you always get the latest version makes is even sound better.

Light Illusion announces significant enhancements to its range of colour management systems, both hardware and software, providing advanced colour control capabilities for all colour critical workflows, from film lab operations, through digital intermediate grading, to final delivery and distribution.
First to be unveiled is an ACES toolset for LightSpace CMS providing direct colour control for any ACES based workflow, a new colour space developed by the Science and Technology Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. From on-set to DI operations, visual effect facilities, broadcasting, or animation, colour space management has become more difficult with the plethora of new digital cinematography cameras released in recent times. LightSpace CMS with ACES capability provides facility-wide single colour space management from a simple to use system that is display, format and workflow agnostic.
